Sound on Sound's Synth Secrets Series

In case you've never seen it before, the UK's Sound On Sound magazine is, in my opinion, one of the best magazines on the topic of recording and electronic music making there is. It's not cheap to get in the U.S., but well worth it if you can find it or afford a subscription.

Many years ago, they did a series of articles called Synth Secrets which discusses the synthesis techniques used behind emulating different types of sounds. It might be a little advanced for total noobs, but they're still some of the most thorough and well-written articles I've seen on the topics. And lucky for you, they're all available to read for absolutely free on Sound on Sound's website!

One of the best things about Tom's house is that his bathroom reading material always consists of several recent issues of SOS. Whenever I'm there I always make it a point to use his bathroom even when I don't have to *use* his bathroom.
