A Word on Japan
If I may take a moment to make a rare off-topic comment, my thoughts are with our readers (and indeed all people) in Japan tonight. I'm watching live footage of the tsunamis just wiping out everything in their path and I'm speechless. Although I have to imagine the casualties will be significant, let's all hope tonight that I'm wrong.

I'm with you on this. Watching that footage coming in last night was horrifying. All I can say is, at least, Japan, being a modern country, has the strictest building codes in the world and that has probably helped saved countless lives.
Another thing that is very scary to me is that a very similar type of subduction zone fault system lies off the coast of Oregon and Washington. I've seen projection maps of such a similar type of tsunami shooting up the Straights of Joan de Fuca and into the Puget Sound and Eliot bay. Not a very comforting.
This comes as a shock to me, already loving Japan, this is horrible news and my heart goes out to those who have lost their lives, if you remember Japan gave us the synthesizer companies, Yamaha, Korg, Roland, ect. I just hope this doesn't get worst or spread, through to other parts of the world like it shows the ring of bad weather on the news.
Scared of a second Chernobyl...
At this point, a Chernobyl type of scenario doesn't look very likely. This one is more like Three Mile Island (similar type of plant design, similar type of situation). Latest reports have it that the radiation levels at the one reactor are starting to drop - that the sea water flooding is working. Still, a 40-year-old plant using 1960's nuclear technology, we are very lucky that it isn't worse.
I do feel for Japan as a whole.
I do not feel for Korg and Roland. It would be nice if their plans got wiped out in the hopes they would produce something creative again.
